Karnataka State Recruitment & Board Evaluation Guidelines

Karnataka state typing examinations adhere to rigorous court and board valuation rules:

  • Karnataka High Court (Bengaluru): 100 Marks practical typing test on computer (350 words in 10 minutes at 35 WPM). 1 mark is deducted per mistake/untyped word. Candidates securing ≥ 60 marks (GM/OBC) or ≥ 50 marks (SC/ST) are shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio for the 20-mark Viva-Voce.
  • Karnataka District Courts: Governed by the Karnataka Subordinate Courts Rules across 31 district courts (Bengaluru, Mysuru, Belagavi, etc.). 15-minute speed test on a 100-mark scale (450 words in English) with a 50-mark qualifying pass standard.
  • KSEAB / KSEEB Ready Reckoner: Paper I Speed test evaluates 100 marks with standardized deductions (Junior Grade: -1.80 marks per mistake; Senior Grade: -1.25 marks per mistake). Minimum passing score is 35.00 marks.
  • KPSC Eligibility Note: The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) selects Typists and DEOs purely via a 200-mark competitive written examination and does not administer a live typing speed test. Candidates must obtain KSEAB Junior/Senior Typewriting certificates as a prerequisite before applying.
  • Kannada Language Requirements: For government and court typist positions, proficiency in Kannada typing (InScript Unicode layout) or possession of a KSEAB Kannada Typewriting certificate is mandatory alongside English.
